60th Anniversary President’s Message
The New Brunswick Hairdressers Association (NBHA) was formed 60 years ago this year. We were fortunate to have some of these original members help us commemorate this landmark occasion 10 years ago, unfortunately, they’re no longer with us. With their research and findings in 1998, the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick expanded its role and became the licensing body for all aspects of the beauty industry, hairstylists, hairdressers, aestheticians, nail technicians, make-up artists, and specific licenses, as well as schools and instructors. The examining and licensing committee are working on research to implement educational seminars for ethnic/curly hair types for instructors and members. Also, an ad-hoc committee investigated additional training in all aspects of Cosmetology. We have grown into the largest association in New Brunswick with over 8000 members.
We’ve been through a lot in the last 2 years and the work the office staff does daily has shown the need for the CANB. Gaye Cail, our Executive Director for the past 32 years, and the staff brought continuity to the organization, keeping the communication lines open with the government. It’s important in providing funding for our members in these trying times.
I look forward to a future where we can all work together for the betterment of the industry.
Paul D Ouellette
