I am a dedicated and passionate cosmetology professional with over 21 years of experience in the beauty industry. My journey began with a deep love for creativity, personal care, and helping others feel confident in their own skin. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in a variety of specialties, including hair styling, skincare, makeup artistry, and client education.
In addition to my hands-on work with clients, I am committed to lifelong learning and staying current with industry trends, techniques, and health and safety standards. I take pride in mentoring up-and-coming professionals, fostering inclusive environments, and promoting excellence and professionalism within our field.
I believe that cosmetology is more than a career—it’s a calling that blends artistry, science, and heart. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to the growth of our industry and to inspire others through leadership, innovation, and community involvement. Whether behind the chair or serving in an organizational role, I strive to make a positive, lasting impact.
Serving on the board of the Association of Cosmetology is an opportunity I am deeply interested in because it aligns with my passion for the beauty industry, commitment to professional growth, and desire to contribute to the future of cosmetology. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and being part of a board that helps shape policy, education, and standards allows me to take an active role in that evolution. I believe that professionals within the field should have a voice in decisions that impact licensing, ongoing education, innovation, and the ethical standards we uphold—and I want to be one of those voices.
My interest also stems from a strong desire to support and uplift fellow cosmetologists. As someone who has experienced the challenges and rewards of working in this field, I understand the importance of mentorship, advocacy, and professional unity. By serving on the board, I can help address the real needs of cosmetologists, from promoting better training programs to ensuring fair business practices.
Furthermore, I am eager to contribute ideas that reflect current trends and the growing diversity of the industry. Cosmetology today includes a wide range of specialties and cultural expressions, and it’s important that our professional associations represent this diversity. My leadership would be guided by inclusion, innovation, and a dedication to helping others succeed.
In summary, serving on the board would not only be an honor but a responsibility I take seriously. It offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, ensure continued excellence in our field, and inspire the next generation of beauty professionals. I’m ready to bring my experience, dedication, and collaborative spirit to this role for the betterment of our industry.
Nail Technician | 14 years experience in the industry
I have been a cosmetologist since 2011. I am very involved in the community, and organize a non-profit organization that helps fund two different local charities every summer. I love the beauty industry and look forward to enhancing our Cosmetology Association with the help of our members. Thank you for trusting me to help lead our association forward.
I have been an active member for 14 years and have a lot of ideas that would help the association and it's members continue and strengthen as a whole. With my prior experience working on a committee I have no issues working with others opinions to make sure everyone feels heard, and making tough decisions to enhance our culture as cosmetologists.
Raimi Tuilk
Lead Stylist - 4 years experience in the Industry
Moving to NB as a cosmetologist has been both challenging and rewarding. Since entering the industry here, I've seen how low the standards can be-and how little value is placed on professional beauty services in Saint John. Many of my clients have never had a dedicated hairstylist, haven't been to a salon in years, or are shaking at their first appointment. Every client deserves to feel safe, seen and cared for. As a hairdresser, I believe our industry needs to do better. I've sat beside clients and cried with them as they've shared heartbreaking stories of neglect and mistreatment. There is a sense of entitlement in parts of this industry that needs to be challenged. Clients are often misled, blamed, or taken advantage of simply because they don't have the knowledge to advocate for themselves. I see the impact daily- scarring, breakage and insecurity. That isn't the legacy any professional should leave behind.
Many new stylists are graduating without the proper education to practice safely and ethically. It's our job to teach, inform and educate clients prior to any service, not after damage has already been done. It is our responsibility as an industry to raise the bar, and ensure our licensing and education systems reflect that. I specialize in curly hair and scalp health, and teach my clients every day how to love and care for their natural texture. I believe every stylist should have foundational training in curls, because no matter who's in your chair, you should know how to give them a proper haircut. I want to help reshape how salons and spas value their work- bringing more education, integrity and care into every corner of the industry. I'm here to advocate for clients, hairdressers and aestheticians alike while bringing real, experience based insight to the table.
Hi, I'm Raimi. I became a hairstylist because I know what it is like to feel uncomfortable or even afraid to go to the salon. Those experiences shaped everything I stand for today. I specialize in curly hair and scalp health because I want to advocate for clients who have never truly been seen, heard or cared for in a salon space. I believe its time for a new standard in the beauty industry- one that adds real value to our services and recognizes that you can't put a price on feeling good in your own skin. I'm passionate about helping all stylists learn how to care for natural texture and scalp health because health hair starts at the roots. I also hold a Lash Extension License from Ontario which gives me experiences in both hairstyling and aesthetics- something that helps me see our industry from multiple angles. I'm a firm believer in continued education because as the trends evolve so should we. I believe in collaboration and working along other cosmetologists in my industry. Every cosmetologist brings something different to the table and that diversity is what makes our craft unique. Since moving from Ontario, i've seen how much more support, education and recognition our industry needs in day-to-day practice. I want to help lift others up, support licensing access for those with the training, and create more opportunities for future generations 2 to thrive in this field. If we don't start now- then when?
